About Malta

Over the years Malta has grown and continues to develop as a strong community economically. As a popular tourist site and a participant in the foreign trade and manufacturing industries, this country has strong potential to grow. Added to that, it is known for its financially sound banking sector and low debt-to-GDP ratio. There are also plans to implement strategies to increase government revenues and foreign investments. These factors all contribute to making studying business in Malta a beneficial choice.

Study Business in Malta

There are a number of public and private universities in Malta. The University of Malta is the largest facility and it is public. A number of the institutions have main campuses around Valletta, the capital, as well as additional branches across Malta. Some of the schools focus on business studies, while others offer a wide range of studies. Also, some schools focus on undergraduate studies while others include a combination of advanced studies. Doctoral degrees in business are not widely offered, however there are other related options, such as economics and finance.

The academic school year varies for each type of degree. On average a bachelor’s degree takes three years, a master’s degree is accomplished in one year, and a doctorate consists of four years of study. However, there are some students who take more or less time to complete their program, depending upon their own personal circumstances. For instance, those who choose to take the accelerated track offered by some schools may finish quicker, while students going part-time may take longer.

There is not a set cost to attend school in Malta. There are different factors that contribute to determining the price, such as whether a student studies in a private or public school, whether a student studies on campus or from home, and the cost of books, room and board, supplies and other incidentals.

Depending upon the degree program, the academic year may consist of two or three semesters. For example, usually a bachelor’s degree consists of six semesters completed over three years, while the master’s consists of three semesters in one year. This may also vary by institution.

Along with the strong academic program, there are a few key benefits of studying in Malta. Students coming from abroad get a chance to immerse themselves in the unique culture, Maltese language and delicious food. Add to that the strong business principles one can learn while attending classes and interacting in the community and it is clear to see why it is a strong choice to study business in Malta.
